Critics have called saxophonist Pete Mills' playing "virtuosic" and "gorgeous" and "versatile tenor-kick-butt" (David Franklin, JazzTimes) and the Columbus Dispatch writes of Mills' compositions as being "impressive with solos that are ear opening...with a tone that is big and rich". His discography includes, as a leader, Fresh Spin 3½ stars in Downbeat (with Pete McCann and Tony Monaco) and Art and Architecture (4 stars AMG) featuring Matt Wilson and Dennis Irwin. His latest recording is a new CD titled Sweet Shadow featuring his working band of Matt Wilson on drums, Pete McCann on guitar, Erik Augis on piano and Martin Wind on bass.

It's a swinging sound that's sure to please fans of bebop and straight ahead jazz.
